SI2 Newsletter - Update 1, 2, & 3 Steering Team Members - December 2017

From your friends at ASAI: We're in the midst of the holiday season; may you all have the happiest of holidays! Our offices will be closed from December 25 through January 1. We will resume office hours on January 2.


Even though it is generally a busy time of year in the schools as well as outside of the school day, there is still important business at hand in keeping your School Improvement Plans running. In December you will be hosting the Second Council Discussion; in this meeting (online or in person) you will be discussing the implementation of your Interventions thus far. The Student Body and Council discussions will let the Steering Team know if any adjustments are needed to better implement interventions for the remainder of the year.

Note: Be sure to plan ahead for the December Council meeting. Schedules fill up quickly--your meeting needs to be at the top of the list! Plan to follow up with Council Members who couldn't attend the in-person meeting or haven't participated in the online discussion.

In addition, the Student Body Discussion will ask students, based on their observations, if the Interventions are noticeably being applied in the classrooms and throughout the school (Student Body Prompt 4.5 in the Manual). Remember that it is vital that all students have a chance to have their opinions heard.

Please have these items submitted by the December 31 deadline.


Are all of your VTA Process submissions marked Meets Criteria? If not, now is the time to bring the Steering Team together to map out a strategy to get on target. Once January rolls around, your school will still be implementing your 2017-2018 interventions while also facilitating the review/revision of your SIP for 2018-2019. Your Team and Council will come together to analyze new data, update SMART goals and root causes, and refine/create Interventions for the 2018-19 school year. Start the New Year off ready to go!
